Full description
The visit at the summit craters of Mount Etna begin from an altitude of 2900 meters. For this tour you will have several options available: you can choose the transfer service from your accommodation; you can reach our meeting point by car; you meet the guide directly at the Rifugio Sapienza, Etna south ski resort. The guide will take care of all ticketing allowing you to skip the line. You will climb from 1900 mt with the cable car and the Unimog 4×4 bus, ending the ride at about 2920 mt.
The hike towards the summit starts with an easy stroll over the latest lava flows of Etna. However, once the base of the active craters the trail become more strenuous. Currently there are four active vents at the top; weather and volcanic activity will determine the permanence in the summit area.
While descending towards the cablecar station : a fun downhill on volcanic ash; a picnic lunch planned in the middle of the volcanic fields; the visit of a long lava channel equipped with helmet; the guide will show you some of Etna’s flank craters and the large caldera called Valle del Bove. An astonishing view of the sea coast from Taormina to Catania.

Hiking boots, hiking pant, fleece, warm / breathable / waterproof hiking jacket, gloves, hat, scarf / bandana, sunglasses, backpack.
Sneakers or low trail shoes are not suitable!
Important informations
The hike towards the summit is related to the weather and geodynamic activity of the volcano as eruptions, explosions, lava flows, volcanic alerts, etc..
This events may alter the original schedule of the visit, at that point the hike will be carried out to the maximum altitude authorized by the regulation.
At the moment the summit craters are closed due to volcanic alert, if they continue to be inaccessible on the date you have chosen, the activity will be replaced with the Etna CableCar Tour excursion.
