Taormina Walking Tour in Sicily
Full description
The meeting point of the tour is Porta Catania, one of the two main doors of the city. We will begin our walk along the Corso, stopping to admire the medieval-style Cathedral. Later, I will tell you everything about the several foreign dominations that have followed over the centuries, and which have left their mark on the architecture of Taormina.
We will then arrive in Piazza IX Aprile, from where you can admire the Gulf of Naxos and Mount Etna in the background. A breathtaking view! We will then continue our guided tour to the ancient theater, not before making a stop at the Corvaja palace, in the Gothic-Catalan style.
The ancient theater awaits you on top of a hill overlooking the gulf, with an exceptional backdrop: the Etna volcano, one of the most active in Europe. During the guided tour of the Theater in Taormina I will reveal to you many secrets about its history, its construction and its function in the Greek-Roman age.
Once the journey inside the theater is over, we will end our tour in Porta Messina, and I am sure you will never forget this fantastic experience!
